Zephyr is pleased to announce the introduction of the PASSPORT Host Datastream Class Library (HDCL), a programmatic integration server that offers developers direct access to the 3270, 5250 and VT datastream (both display and host printer sessions). Using the Zephyr solution with TN3270, TN5250 and VT220 communications, programmers can build advanced host print servers, migrate LUA RUI applications from SNA to IP, which in turn can eliminate the need for IBM and Microsoft SNA gateways, and much more. As an example of the potential use of the Zephyr product, many organizations continue to use host printing, whether from an IBM zSeries mainframe, iSeries AS/400 midrange or UNIX server. Using PASSPORT HDCL, a developer could take a standard IBM 3287 LU 1 or 3 mainframe host printer session and programmatically output the information to multiple formats, including PDF, HTML, fax or file. This requirement can be found in banks, hotels, car rental agencies, hospitals, universities and state and local governments that continue to use host applications and need to output statements, receipts, invoices, reservations, class schedules, tax information, etc.
in multiple output formats. Another similar example would be the ability to connect to a mainframe that supports IPDS (Intelligent Printer Data Stream) printing and redirect the host printer datastream to an IPDS printer (internal printing device), printer driver or IPDS processing software. The non-intrusive PASSPORT HDCL can also be used as a migration tool for existing client and server-based solutions that use the LUA-RUI interface found in Microsoft SNA Server, Microsoft Host Integration Server and the PC-based IBM Communications Server. LUA-RUI applications are common in the financial services and banking industries. With PASSPORT HDCL, organizations can eliminate the need for the SNA-based IBM and Microsoft LAN gateways and communicate directly with 3270 hosts using TCP/IP (in addition to 3270, Zephyr has expanded the interface to include 5250 and UNIX connections).
Since SNA networks can require the use of expensive lease lines and force organizations to maintain parallel networks, significant savings can be realized in switching to IP. Knowing how an ink cartridge work can save you money
A printer ink cartridge usually contains a print head and circuitry. At the bottom of an inkjet cartridge are nozzles or what is commonly referred to as "jets". There can be from 50 to several hundred of these nozzles. Each of these nozzles is smaller in diameter than a human hair. They are connected to a resistor that heats (or allows to cool) the printer ink within the ink cartridge.
When ink is heated it forms a bubble. When it cools, the bubble shoots dots of ink through these nozzles onto your printer paper. Because this heating/cooling process is so rapid, your inkjet cartridge can produce thousands of ink droplets per second. The heaters and nozzles of an ink cartridge will continue to work, even when your printer ink runs out. Testing suggests that the heating unit of an average inkjet cartridge will continue to work for as many as three to five refills. When your ink cartridge runs out of ink, you have a couple of options.
First, you can purchase a printer ink refill...

Digital Photography and the Printed World
Photo collections ? for traditional photographers the phrase conjures thoughts of bound albums and mounds of shoeboxes, stuffed to capacity with 5 x 7 inch pictures. For today's ever growing ranks of digital photographers however, it brings to mind thoughts of a stamp-sized memory card, a pocket hard drive, or CDs and DVDs. Welcome to the world of digital photography, which is fundamentally changing the way we capture and preserve images.
Digital photography today is a rapidly growing consumer pastime with many advantages versus traditional film-based cameras, including the ability to immediately review, erase, annotate or categorize images, speed and ease of operation, and quality at the high end of the digital photography scale. Although some film cameras can operate without batteries, minus the flash, most consumers are unconcerned with use in wet or poor weather environments and are drawn to digital cameras by all of the advantages that they offer.

How to Choose Stock Photography for your Web Site
So you've decided to take the plunge. You know that stock photography is an effective tool for your web business, but where do you start and how do you choose the stock photo that's right for you. Here are some tips to get you started so that you are happy with your choice.1. Decide where you want to purchase your stock photography. There are large agencies and small independent photographers.
While the agencies will have more to chose from and sometimes lower prices an independent photographer will offer more personalized service and opportunities for you to have custom work done, if that is what you need.2. Don't go in expecting to find an exact image that is in your head, a large agency or an independent photographer will not have the man in a blue suit, holding a cell phone, next to the white blinds nor will they have the beach landscape with the green and white striped chair. You need to have a clear idea in your head of the message that you want to convey and search for...

What's Your Right Photo Shade
Sometimes photos would appear a little frustrating especially when there is no transparency to match color. The reason to this is that printing companies have been slow in going with the flow to accommodate new images. They often stumbles through their conversions to CMYK which causes irreparable damage to the images. In the article When Good Color Goes Bad by Mike Davis, it enumerated some tips on how to seize the full potential of your digital images. Davis advised to work with digital photographers who can supply the following:1. FPO images for you to place in your layout plus the original raw files.
These contain the virgin pixel captures straight from high-end digital cameras, prior to any conversion to RGB or any subsequent processing/encoding. You will need someone skilled to handle them, though. 2. Properly tagged RGB tiff images -- again, a skilled operator will be needed for best results. 3.
CMYK tiffs prepared by a knowledgeable photographer. When feasible, separations...
